Golden Conures (Guaruba guarouba) are also known as Golden Parakeets and Queen of Bavaria Conures. These stunningly beautiful parrots sport bright yellow feathers accented in deep green on the outer wings. Their bodies range from 10-14 inches long, making them significantly larger than Sun and Green Cheek conures. A well-cared-for pet Golden will typically live between 20 and 30 years.

These medium-sized parrots are social and benefit from lots of interaction with their humans. You’ll also want to provide plenty of enrichment, trading out toys and chews frequently. They especially love to climb and enjoy ladders, ropes, and swings. We have never had a Golden in store before and expect it to fly out quickly to its forever home, so stop in soon to reserve and visit with all our baby birds.

Rose Breasted Cockatoo

The Rose Breasted cockatoo, also known as the galah or pink and grey cockatoo, is one of the smallest and most colorful cockatoos. With a bright pink chest, grey wings, and lighter pink crest, this beauty turns heads. They are extremely intelligent and social, and like all parrots, benefit from lots of interaction with their humans. Green Quaker Parakeet

The Quaker parrot (or parakeet) is also known as the Monk parakeet. A parakeet is simply a small parrot. These bright, colorful little birds can be good talkers and make terrific pets. We just love our Green Quaker, which is adorable and affectionate.

Quakers are some of the most popular pet birds. Quite small for a parrot, they grow to about 12 inches from the crown of their head to the tip of their tail, and can live up to 30 years. Quakers love to chew and need plenty of toys and treats, which you should change out frequently to keep them healthy and happy.

The cockatiel is a friendly little bird and our selection of babies changes all the time. We have fancy colored ‘tiels in store that will catch your eye and then capture your heart. Though their appearance varies, there is only one type of cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus). These charming, beautiful young birds come in a variety of colors and mutations:

Blue-headed Pionus

This Pionus (Pionus menstruus) is truly a pretty bird, with a deep-blue head and vibrant green body feathers. Considered a medium-sized parrot, the well-cared-for Pionus can live  30 years or more. Though not huge, you’ll want a roomy cage to keep your parrot from becoming sedentary and overweight. They are extremely intelligent, and though not always the best talkers, well-trained birds have been known to have quite a large vocabulary. Like most parrots, these birds love attention. Lovebirds are charming little parrots and we couldn’t love them more.

Part of the parrot (Psittaciforme) family, the lovebird is very social and makes a great companion pet. Quieter than some of their larger parrot cousins, they can learn to mimic a variety of sounds, but typically are not great talkers. The Green Cheek Conure is a beautiful bird found in muted shades of greens, reds, and blues. These small parrots, also known as Yellow-sided conures, are fun and affectionate with huge personalities. White-bellied Caiques

Come see our newest White-bellied Caique. These bright and colorful birds have green bodies, orange heads, and white bellies. These lovely, lively little parrots are completely adorable with silly, playful personalities. These are considered small-to-medium-sized parrots that grow to approximately 9 inches in length. They are cuddly, energetic, and love to play. For these reasons, they flourish in a large cage that gives them plenty of room. White-bellied caiques are not great talkers, but their whistles and natural sounds are quite amusing.

Known to be outgoing and friendly, caiques are also natural clowns. Their bright colors and lively temperaments bring joy and laughter to their human families.

Parakeets

Very Young

Parakeet — ‘keet? Budgie? We’ve got ’em . All of our parakeets are very young birds and are available in a wide range of colors. In fact, these fun and colorful little friends make great companions. They love to sing, chirp, whistle, and chatter. ‘Keets are friendly and smart. Some have even learned to mimic as many as 100 human words. They like to chew and play, and can be trained to ring a bell or push a small ball. The parakeet can also be a vain little budgie, and really enjoys admiring itself in a mirror.

Fun Fact: “Parakeet” is a general term for small, narrow parrots. The familiar American parakeet is actually a Budgerigar or “Budgie”. The British Budgie looks very similar to an American parakeet, but is slightly larger.

English Budgies

The English Budgerigar (Budgie) is the larger cousins of American Budgerigars (also known as parakeets). They are 2-3 inches longer than parakeets, and weigh about twice as much. Budgies are available in a wide variety of colors and patterns. They look fluffier than parakeets and tend to have sweeter personalities if they are well socialized. These birds have been specifically bred as pets and are often show birds.

English Budgies live  about 7 to 9 years. These small parrots appreciate a generous cage and lots of enrichment to keep them happy and healthy. The Animal Store carries a wide variety of toys that will keep your bird busy. The more time you spend with your English Budgie, the happier it will be. They have calm personalities and can learn to talk quite well, making them fantastic family pets.

Green Diluted Indian Ringneck

This ringneck parrot (also known as a rose-winged parakeet) is an outgoing, often talkative pet. These beautiful birds are highly social and crave attention. They are playful and intelligent, and love to learn new tricks. Only the males have the telltale ring around the neck.

Changing out their toys frequently and provided lots of play time and attention will keep Ringnecks happy and engaged. When well cared-for, they can live for up to 25-30 years.  Come into the store for a meet and greet to see just how much fun a ringneck can be.

The charming canary is one of the most popular pet birds in the world. They are quite friendly, and humans have considered the canary a wonderful companion for hundreds of years.  A male canary will start practicing its pretty songs at about three months old, and both males and females enjoy a lot of attention. People who live in apartments or smaller homes appreciate canaries because they are among the quietest of our feathered friends

Though usually thought of as bright yellow, there are more than 200 varieties of canaries. They are all easy to care for and can live 10 to 14 years.
