Black Capped Conure (aka Rock Conure) — both the males and females of this striking little parrot have black foreheads, with scalloped black and white neck and breast feathers, and green bodies. They also have a bare eye, or whiteish ring around their eyes. Juveniles are slightly duller in color.

Black Caps are fun and friendly little birds with highly entertaining personalities. They are among the smallest of the conures, growing to about 10 inches from beak to tail. They can live to be about 30 years old.

Yellow-shouldered Amazon — this lovely bird is primarily green, with yellow on its head and shoulders. It has bare eyes with white rings around them. These birds are playful and inquisitive. You’ll keep your Amazon happy by providing lots of enrichment and changing out toys regularly.

Amazons are friendly and make great companion birds. Thid is a rare variety of Amazon, and we don’t see them very often.

Triton Cockatoo

Tritons are one of four subspecies of the sulfur-crested cockatoo. Primarily white, they have telltale yellow crests on their heads that the raise and lower depending on their mood. These beautiful birds are extremely intelligent and require a lot of attention. You can keep them happy and healthy by spending a lot of time with them, and providing a variety of enrichment — such as toys and puzzles that you change out often to keep them engaged. These large parrots grow to about 20 inches. They can make great companions in the right home, and love to learn new tricks.

Lineolated Parakeets

Lineolated (or Barred) parakeets are named for its barred or striped black markings. Many are primarily green, but we have a variety of pretty color mutations, from soft blue and turquoise, to a darker feathered beauty. These small birds (Bolborhynchus lineola) are members of the parrot family. They are quite calm and make lovely pets. They are sometimes known as Catherine Parakeets and are excellent mimics, often becoming good talkers.

Citron-crested Cockatoo

This Citron-crested Cockatoo, also known as the Sumba Cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea citrinocristata), is mostly white and sports a stunningly beautiful orange crest. Slightly smaller than sulpher-crested cockatoos, it will grow to about 15 inches long. Though not known to be great talkers, a Citron can learn to mimic 10-15 words and has a charming personality. Like all parrots, a well-cared for cockatoo can live for many years.

The blue-crowned is one of the most beautiful of the conure family. They are very intelligent and can learn a large vocabulary, although they can be a little difficult to understand. Highly social, this conure needs lots of human interaction or the company of another bird. The Animal Store carries a huge supply of interesting toys and chews to enrich your conure’s habitat. Your bird should have a variety of toys that are changed out frequently to keep its interest.

Blue-crowned conures have an emerald green body topped by a stunning, iridescent turquoise blue face and crown. The bright white-banded eyes stand out from the surrounding blue feathers.
