The English Budgerigar (Budgie) is the larger cousins of American Budgerigars (also known as parakeets). They are 2-3 inches longer than parakeets, and weigh about twice as much. Budgies are available in a wide variety of colors and patterns. They look fluffier than parakeets and tend to have sweeter personalities if they are well socialized. These birds have been specifically bred as pets and are often show birds.

English Budgies live  about 7 to 9 years. These small parrots appreciate a generous cage and lots of enrichment to keep them happy and healthy. The Animal Store carries a wide variety of toys that will keep your bird busy. The more time you spend with your English Budgie, the happier it will be. They have calm personalities and can learn to talk quite well, making them fantastic family pets.

Blue and pink and pretty, the Rosy is an unusual little parakeet. “Bourkies” are sometimes also known as blue-vented parrots, sundown parrots, or pink-bellied parrots. This calm and quiet parakeet is a great for beginning pet bird owners. They have such beautiful colors. The yellow one shown here is a lutino. Look at the beautiful tail feathers of the blue one shown below.

Albino Quaker — this snowy beauty is unique among Quakers (or Monk) parakeets. Like all Quakers, this hand-fed beauty is likely to be quite social and turn into a great talker. They are considered highly intelligent and thrive on new toys, puzzles, and challenges.

Lineolated (or Barred) parakeets are named for its barred or striped black markings. Many are primarily green, but we have a variety of pretty color mutations, from soft blue and turquoise, to a darker feathered beauty. These small birds (Bolborhynchus lineola) are members of the parrot family. They are quite calm and make lovely pets. They are sometimes known as Catherine Parakeets and are excellent mimics, often becoming good talkers.

Pallid Green Quaker Parakeet or Parrot — Sometimes called Monk Parakeets, this pretty bird has bright, neon green feathers. Quakers are extremely popular because they make great pets.
