The Green Cheek Conure is a beautiful bird found in muted shades of greens, reds, and blues. These small parrots, also known as Yellow-sided conures, are fun and affectionate with huge personalities. The Gouldian is part of nature’s jewelry box. Color blocked in bright hues, the Gouldian is a tiny treasure. These pretty little birds are made to admire and do best in pairs or small groups. Gouldians have been admired and kept as pets for more than 1,000 years. They are so colorful that they are sometimes known as the Rainbow finch. Just 4-5 inches from beak to tail feathers, these tiny birds tend to live five to eight years in a loving home. They are extremely social and tend to do better in pairs or groups.

These finches are favorites and are never in the store for very long.

The Cinnamon Conure is a lovely variation of the Green Cheek Conure. Like all Green Cheeks, these Cinnamons are relatively quiet compared to other conures. They can learn a few words, but are not generally great talkers.

These tiny parrots make great companions and pets. The Peach-faced Loverbird is among our favorites of all the varieties of lovebirds. Because they are stunningly beautiful with lively and pleasing colors, these little charmers are also sometimes known as the rosy-faced or rosy-collared lovebird. What could be more charming or lovely than a peached-faced lovebird?

Lovebirds are small parrots or Psittaciformes. They are very social and make terrific pets and companions. They are loving and attentive as mates, but tend to bond better with their human families when they are kept as single birds. Blue and pink and pretty, the Rosy is an unusual little parakeet. “Bourkies” are sometimes also known as blue-vented parrots, sundown parrots, or pink-bellied parrots. The Zebra Finch is a favorite at The Animal Store, and we usually have quite a selection. The males are the songbirds of the family.

Zebra Finches are small and colorful. In addition, they are great choices for first-time bird owners, as they are relatively easy to maintain and have sweet, gentle personalities. Zebra finches have been family pets for more than 100 years. They keep themselves entertained when given recommended treats and provided with a the means to take an occasional bath. These social little birds really enjoy having one or more companions of their own kind.

The Quaker parrot (or parakeet) is also known as the Monk parakeet. A parakeet is simply a small parrot. These bright, colorful little birds can be good talkers and make terrific pets. Our Green Quaker is adorable and affectionate.

Quakers are some of the most popular pet birds. Quite small for a parrot, they grow to about 12 inches from head to the tip of their tail, and can live up to 30 years. Quakers love to chew and need plenty of toys and treats, which you should change out frequently to keep them healthy and happy.

The Yellow Crested (formerly Lesser Sulphur-crested) Cockatoo is a regal bird. It has white feathers with yellow underwings and a bright yellow crest. Males have black eyes and females have brown eyes. This is the smallest of the crested parrots and their average lifespan is 50-60 years, but they have been known to live 65 years or more.  They can mimic some speech, but aren’t the best talkers. They are extremely intelligent and affectionate. They thrive with a lot of attention, and you should plan to provide them with lots of enrichment.

In the right home, they make fantastic companion pets.

This sunny little lovebird boasts a bright yellow body with a peach face. Happiness in feathers. Despite its small size, the lovebird is a true parrot.

Lutino lovebirds are a sub-breed of the peach-faced lovebird. They are friendly and social, and can be very affectionate when well socialized. These gentle souls are not aggressive, but they are playful and energetic and enjoy a lot of attention. With a healthy diet and good care, Lutinos can live between 15 and 30 years.

This majestic parrot, the Blue and Yellow Macaw, is also known as the Blue and Gold Macaw. Stunning and colorful, these macaws have blue bodies and a bright yellow or gold chest, with a bit of green above the beak. Full grown, they are about 35 inches long to the end of the tail. Blue and Yellows can live up to 70 years, so they make for lifelong companions.

Black Capped Conure (aka Rock Conure) — both the males and females of this striking little parrot have black foreheads, with scalloped black and white neck and breast feathers, and green bodies. They also have a bare eye, or whiteish ring around their eyes. Juveniles are slightly duller in color.

Black Caps are fun and friendly little birds with highly entertaining personalities. They are among the smallest of the conures, growing to about 10 inches from beak to tail. They can live to be about 30 years old.

Triton Cockatoo

Tritons are one of four subspecies of the sulfur-crested cockatoo. Primarily white, they have telltale yellow crests on their heads that the raise and lower depending on their mood. These beautiful birds are extremely intelligent and require a lot of attention. You can keep them happy and healthy by spending a lot of time with them, and providing a variety of enrichment — such as toys and puzzles that you change out often to keep them engaged. These large parrots grow to about 20 inches. They can make great companions in the right home, and love to learn new tricks.
